FSSC 22000

FOOD SAFETY SYSTEM CERTIFICATION 22000
(ISO 22000:2018, ISO/TS 22002-5:2019 and additional FSSC 22000 requirements (Version 6.0).

This summer, our BCS team worked hard to make the transition to FSSC 22000.
We are therefore proud to announce that we have successfully completed the certification and have received the certificate.
With this GFSI-recognized standard, we demonstrate that food safety is our top priority, risks are minimized, and your stored goods are handled safely.
With this, we have taken another step in our quality policy as well as in ensuring food safety, and we will be able to serve our current and future customers even better.

BCS is smoke-free

BCS Harderwijk BV has implemented a Smoke-Free Workplace policy, which means that since March 1, 2019, the entire premises and the outdoor area are smoke-free.

In January 2019, in collaboration with ProStop, a smoking cessation program was initiated for the (smoking) employees. This involved a general information session, a personal consultation, and, for those who wished, a laser treatment as an additional aid to quit smoking.
The former smoking room has been refurbished, creating a space to relax with colleagues.
There is a dartboard, a foosball table, and a comfortable sofa!

DGGF's funding, combined with equity and local funding by Equity Bank, is used to set up the first 3PL cold chain provider (including cold store) in Nairobi, Kenya. Operations are planned to start in Q2 2019. The feasibility study was co-funded by a DHI-grant.
We supported BCS throughout the project with the development of the business plan and memorandum, financial model, finance structure and fundraising.

BCS and Sanquin

Starting July 2017, BCS will store and handle all plasma products from Sanquin (https://www.sanquin.nl/). After an intensive period of over 6 months involving several rigorous audits to align processes, procedures, and requirements, BCS now fully complies with all the extremely stringent standards set by Sanquin. Both Sanquin and BCS guarantee a safe and efficient blood supply chain in the Netherlands. In addition to collecting blood, Sanquin produces pharmaceutical products, conducts high-quality scientific research, develops and provides a wide range of diagnostic services, and offers training and education.

The Blood Supply Act aims to strengthen the quality, safety, and availability of blood and blood products from unpaid voluntary donors in the Netherlands. The responsibility for implementing and maintaining this program has been entrusted to Sanquin.

The Plasma Products division processes the plasma supplied by blood banks into medications for coagulation and immune disorders. These medications are called plasma products. Sanquin is a major supplier of medications for patients in the Netherlands. Various isolation techniques produce coagulation factors, protease inhibitors, immunoglobulins, and albumin. Sanquin Plasma Products works closely with sister organizations in other countries, such as the Department for Central Fractionation (CAF) in Belgium and the Finnish Red Cross.
